All successful traders agree on the fact that keeping a trade journal is one of the most important weapons from the arsenal of a trader. Monitoring your trading activity should not be reduced to checking the wins or losses at the end of the day/week/month, it means treating your trading activity as a business by tracking not only the profit, but also the way in which you have earned those profits and even the way in which you can increase them.

It is said that an image is worth a thousand words. The wonders of technology allows us to take a snapshot of the state of the market in the moment we decided to open a transaction. By doing this, when we will try in the future to get a retrospective view on a certain transaction we will be able to see exactly what we saw when we took the decision the open a position in the market.
This might be the field with the most impact on your trading performace from your trading journal. It is vital to thoroughly analyze your congitive process that takes place when you decide to jump on a trade and identify possible mistake that you might’ve made.(even if your transaction closed on a profit or a loss).
By monitoring the market and analyzing the conditions that determined certain actions, a trader may be able to modify his trading plan so it fits better to his personality.
